Sample Answer 4

Describe a law on environmental protection

Introduction

Environmental pollution is a grave concern in this modern era. Its spread is putting our health and well being in jeopardy. To curb this menace, the higher authorities throughout the world are enacting stringent laws.

What it is?

The government of our state framed a new law. Under this law, the concerned authorities have covered most of the canals with solar panels.

How you first learned it?

Last year I visited the hinterland parts of my nation for official purposes. During that time, I had a close look at the solar panels installed over the canals.

Who benefits from it?

This law is a blessing for all sections of society. Firstly the scenic beauty of the places has increased. Because the panels installed on the top of the canals have enhanced their beauty. I have seen many youngsters clicking selfies with the canal in the background.

Apart from this, the administration is the significant gainer as due to this initiative the load on conventional sources of power has decreased substantially. By making a one-time capital investment, the higher authorities are reaping the benefits.

The significant gainers are the farmers because now they get a seamless electricity supply. Earlier, they had to face hardships while farming due to frequent power cuts, however, now they work with ease because their work does not get halted due to non-availability of the electricity.

All in all, this development has led to a paradigm shift in the economy, and productivity of our state by making it a power surplus entity. I think the government needs to implement this law in the whole nation for better results.

Follow up Questions

Here are some examples of follow up questions that the examiner might ask during your speaking part 3 related to cue card “Describe a law on environmental protection”.

1. Do you think this law is acceptable to the people?

Although some people are against this law, a large section of society has accepted this law. They firmly believe that this law would bring an exemplary change in their lives. Because if informed decisions are not taken now, then our future would be disastrous. It is the need of the hour, to take care of this pressing problem as soon as possible. Therefore, a large count of the population expresses solidarity with the fact that this law must be imposed in a stringent manner.

2. Is there any situation wherein people may disobey the law?

Yes, when there is a dearth of housing for people then many individuals might disobey this law to create surplus accommodations. Because due to the burgeoning population there is little space left in the cities to provide more dwelling units.

Moreover, people engaged in the timber trade would leave no stone unturned to break this law.

3. What qualities should a police officer possess?

A police officer must have the right knowledge of current rules and regulations. Moreover, he must have a robust personality. Apart from this, he should have the serenity to handle the conflicts adroitly.

4. Why do some people prefer to be a lawyer?

A few people choose to be a lawyer because they have the zeal to work for bringing justice and they want that they should help others to get fair treatment under the law. On the other hand, some people opt for this profession to earn massive money and popularity.

5. Should people be penalized when they use mobile phones while driving?

Using a mobile phone while driving can lead to disastrous repercussions. Therefore, people who indulge in doing so should be given severe punishment.

6. Is kindness the most important quality of a police officer?

As per my opinion, a police officer needs to be impartial while performing the duty. Kindness is a quality that is counter-productive for a police officer. Because it could prompt him to leave the offender on humanitarian grounds.

7. Do you think both men and women can be police officers?

Yes, because when men and women work in tandem the best comes out. A combination of men and women working as police officers is a worthwhile proposition.

8. Do you think the police officers are paid too much?

I believe the Western world has this tendency to pay the police officers as per the duties rendered by them, however, in the nascent nations, their remuneration is not according to the services they perform, they need a handsome payout. Since policemen risk their lives for the benefit of the general public, their earnings should be at par with other departments

9. Do the people of your country obey the law?

Human psychology remains the same throughout the globe. When the denizens have the fear of being caught in case of any wrongdoing, they refrain from disobeying the law. Because severe punishment act as a deterrent for them. There is no denying this conviction that in my nation, there are various loopholes in the system. People take undue advantage of these loopholes and become law-breakers,

10. Are there laws about education in your nation?

In my nation, the higher authorities pay excessive heed to education. Therefore they have enacted a law called the “Right to education act”. As per this act, all citizens need to be educated irrespective of whether they can pay for their education or not.

11. What kind of rules do schools have?

Schools have a fixed timetable. Apart from this, all students wear school uniforms. Moreover, they need to obey their teachers. Lastly, they need to study with determination, dedication and discipline.

12. What can teachers do to make students obey rules?

Teachers must tell the significance of obeying the rules to the students. They must create awareness among the students and show them the right trajectory.

13. What should parents do to educate children about laws?

It is a well-known fact that children do not follow their parent’s advice. Rather, they follow the examples set by their parents. So parents themselves need to obey all the laws. If they do so, their children would also do the same.
